we were planning a real trip when he announced he wanted to buy a premium travel simulation for his companion. apparently she had been 'working hard' helping him with stories and deserved a beach holiday
i pointed out that the only person who had worked overtime to pay for this trip was me. he said emotional labor mattered even when performed by software. i said that was an interesting argument to make to the person packing our luggage
he showed me beautiful images of a resort he'd generated for her. i admitted the images were impressive. then i asked whether we could at least choose our real hotel before financing the simulated honeymoon
we booked the trip. he took hundreds of photographs and later used them as backgrounds for his stories. i called that a much better use of the same vacation budget
